Monarch Education's CPD

With very many years of teaching experience throughout all levels of staff at Monarch, we have a policy to encourage our supply staff to extend their professional expertise and qualifications.

This is always useful for NQTs, for incoming foreign recruits (OQTs) who may not be so familiar with the National Curriculum or Key Stage requirements, for returning teachers, and for those who are saddled with new and unfamiliar areas of responsibility (especially those in which they’ve never been trained). But, as we all know, every teacher can benefit from improvement.

Superb resources available on this page:

There are some truly superb downloads available on this page. You’ll find here almost 80 hyperlinks to websites that are invaluable to teachers (and a recent test showed every single hyperlink worked!) Another example is the e-Directory of CPD Leadership, which is the result of a huge (and very expensive) public study. It will tell you what’s happening in your region and is similarly full of hyperlinks. And there are other resources including a very comprehensive list of abbreviations used in the sector (to save your blushes if you are faced with one that means nothing to you, as periodically we all are!) But there is far more here and we recommend that you have a quick look at every download.

Plans to run courses in 2009-2010:

The agency is hoping to run its own day-courses, both on its own and in collaboration with partners, and we are certainly willing to inform our teachers of courses which any other agency or organisation may facilitate.

If you feel that you are able to offer places on forthcoming events, free or otherwise, please let us know. We’ll publicise the events for you and, obviously, there may be a benefit for you in ensuring that such events are fully-subscribed. We’ll also advise teachers here (or by mail and email) of any courses we run or know about, and give teachers an opportunity to attend. If possible we’ll subsidise places or make places entirely free of charge for them!

We need to record CPD!

As part of our comprehensive offering we are therefore asking all of our teachers to use the downloadable form on this page to advise us of courses they’ve done since they joined us. And tell us about any courses which they think would interest other supply staff. We’ll pass this information on.

The courses a teacher attends improve their worth and marketability.

Assuming that teachers and other interested parties are willing to collaborate with us in this way, we take the opportunity now to thank everybody for their team-spirited approach to our workforce’s professional development!
